Launch Day for Matthew Saunders’ Daughters of Shadow & Blood – Book I: Yasamin

Today is the launch day for my friend Matthew’s debut novel, Daughters of Shadow & Blood – Book I: Yasamin. A tale of the first of Dracula’s three brides, it’s Dracula meets The DaVinci Code with some elements of Interview with the Vampire. Definitely a great read and worth checking out.

Available on Amazon (link) in paperback and ebook as well as many other places.

Find Matthew at his website, Write, Wrote, Written, on Twitter @jmattsaunders, or on Facebook.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Cover Reveal for J. Matthew Saunders’ Daughters of Shadow & Blood

On May 3rd, 2015, J. Matthew Saunders will unleash his debut novel upon the world.

The Daughters of Shadow & Blood Trilogy will tell the tales of the three women who became the Brides of Dracula.

Book I: Yasamin is a story of love and betrayal, duty and honor, past and present.

A link back to Matthew’s actual cover release blog post from a few days back is here. I was honored that he released the cover during my Online Release Party and am glad to give him a shout out here in return. This book can’t get here fast enough.

Not to mention, he’s just started Book II… Prepare to be scared.

The August Trifecta

Or, “Why Darin’s having a good week.”

Just received an e-mail from Jessy Roberts, the chief editor at Pill Hill Press letting me know they plans to include my latest short story “Nightmare at 200 Feet” in their amusement park themed horror anthology Bloody Carnival. It will join my other two published stories with Pill Hill in Flesh and Bone: Rise of the Necromancers and Fem-Fangs to make August 2010 a very good month for Darin the writer (can I say author yet?)

To say I was excited to get the e-mail would be an understatement, but needless to say, I’m wearing a smile today.

A special thanks to my good friend Eden Royce who spent 2.5 hours with me last night (right up to the 2 am Eastern Time deadline) editing “Nightmare” into publishable shape. Couldn’t have done it without you and the little shot of Starbucks caffeine (not to mention your non-pseudonymous alter ego).

That being said, now between myself, Eden, and Matthew Saunders (the third of our musketeers), we should have three different anthologies available for signing at our 10 Oct 2010 book signing at Park Road Books in Charlotte, NC. We’ll be there from 2-5 and sign anything you want (as long as its legal).

And I’m not stopping here. I’m currently working on another story for Pill Hill’s Monster Mash anthology – it’s due this weekend and I have the story about 80% done. I just need the big ending and then I will send it off and see if Jessy is happy with my latest effort.

For Pawn’s Gambit fans – still waiting to hear back from my few outstanding submissions. If I hear anything on that end, you’ll be able to read about it here.

Now, back to “the story that continues to refuse to be named”.

Lightning Strikes Twice, and other news

Pill Hill Press accepted a second short story from yours truly today. “Cold Hands, Warm Heart” will appear in their female vampire anthology Fem-Fangs due out September 2010. Flesh and Bone (see previous entry) should be out by late August or early September at the latest.

I and two other writers (who just happen to be good friends of mine) will be joining forces with me for a book signing on October 10, 2010 at Park Road Books in Charlotte, NC. We plan to be there from 2-5 and will have about 100 copies of Flesh and Bone available for signing. Pending publication schedule, I hope to have some copies of Fem-Fangs on hand as well, though the focus of the event is to promote the necromancer anthology. Please come out and support me, Matthew Saunders, and Eden Royce (not her actual name – wink, wink) along with an excellent independent bookstore!

Again, big thanks to everyone who gave input on this new story! I hope it has enough bite for everyone…

Best wishes. I’m off to work on “The Story that so far refuses to be named” (perhaps I should call it Voldemort).

Big News!

Greetings everyone! I received an e-mail from Pill Hill Press today at lunch that they have accepted my short story, “Necrodance”, for publication in their necromancer anthology coming out this fall: Flesh and Bone: Rise of the Necromancers. This will be my first publication, and I couldn’t be more pleased with how the story turned out. I am thinking that the main character may actually make a follow up appearance in my next submission. We will see I suppose.

Look for the book to hit Amazon in the next few weeks as it is supposed to have a Fall 2010 release and they stop taking submissions in two days.

To everyone who read/edited/critiqued/gave advice on my story: THANKS! It takes a village to “raise” an undead story (like you thought there wouldn’t be a bad pun in here).

Best wishes to everyone, especially to Eden, Matthew, and Kelly who are also submitting to the same anthology. I wish all three of them the best.

And with that, I bid you all good night.
