My “Dear Teen Me” Letter

I had the great fortune of being asked (thanks to Clare Dugmore at Curiosity Quills) to be a part of “Dear Teen Me” where authors get to send letters to their teenage selves to give them advice and some words of encouragement. I really enjoyed putting this together and wanted to share it here on the blog, since I’ve been a little too busy putting words into the new book to really post much on the blog of late.

Here is a link to my letter, in case you were wondering what I’d tell my 1987 self if I could…

By the way, we were told to include “epic” pictures of ourselves as teens. What do you think?

love the shirt, found your site under Google images. couldn’t resist the call of Peter Cetera! Do you still have it, is it still wearable? I had a jack Wagner concert t-shirt never removed from plastic wrap… I’d rock that shirt now, or eBay it for Rick Astley (smirk, I’d be Owen Pallett or Ivri Lider (both adorable music geniuses albeit gay), my celeb music crushes as unobtainable twenty plus years later!

That is the t-shirt for Chicago 19, my very first concert back in 1989. This was after Peter Cetera had left the band, but funny thing happened after the show. We went to Shoney’s to eat afterwards and then the tour bus pulled in and half the band came in and sat with us. So we basically had nighttime breakfast with Jason Scheff, James Pankow, Lee Loughnane, and Bill Champlin and got their autographs.

I do still have the shirt. It’s gotten stained from other shirts and being in a box with heat, but I could still wear it if I needed to. It was a bit big at the time, but would probably fit me just fine now!

      Thanks for saying hi!
